Visions & Dreams
My work has always focused on the beauty and aliveness of nature, painting figurative and landscape subjects from life. Recently I have also begun painting imaginative works that seek to offer a window to internal experiences.
Landscape Paintings
Nature is an endless source of joy and inspiration for me. Every landscape painting is created while bathing in the energetic envelope of nature. The experience of making each painting is both a healing and an offering. My hope is that these paintings embody the spirit of love, connection, and awe that inspired them.

Figurative Paintings
A portrait need not be of someone’s face. It is that person’s story. A portrait is their life, their feelings, their energy, their memories, their resonance. Many of my portraits seem to be landscapes, but the landscape is simply part of the story, part of the universe of that person, in that moment in time. Working from life with all my subjects since 2010, I feel my time with that person, all the hours of sitting and talking and being with them, gets into the paint, and makes it more than just a likeness. After all, a person is more than what they look like. It’s that invisible element I’m looking for.

Drawings
One of my favorite quotes is from Andrew Wyeth: “No medium has any limitations, the only limitation is in the artist.” He said that in reference to a pencil drawing he did of his sister. A piece he knew he could take no further by making it into a painting.
Sometimes a drawing can help you find the composition, discover the image before working in paint. And sometimes, it is something complete unto itself. It represents a pattern of light and shadow, the very essence of the subject.
